Privacy
The short version
Hindsight has no accounts. Your clips are files on your Mac and they stay there. This site sets no cookies. Nobody here has a database of you to lose.
The app
Hindsight captures a window or a display into a buffer in your Mac's memory and writes a video file when you ask it to. The buffer is never uploaded and never written anywhere except the clips folder you chose. There is no sign in, no sync and no account to delete.
The app connects to the internet in two situations, both of them in the version you download directly from this site:
- Activating and checking your licence key with Lemon Squeezy, our payment provider. This sends the key and an identifier for the Mac it is activated on.
- Checking whether a newer version exists. This is an ordinary request for a file and carries no information about you.
The Mac App Store version does neither. Apple handles the purchase, and the App Store handles updates.
This website
No cookies are set, so there is no consent banner to click.
If analytics are switched on for this site, they run through Plausible, which counts page views in aggregate, stores no cookies and builds no profile of a visitor. It is not able to identify you.
If you give us an email address for the waitlist, it is stored by Buttondown and used to send you the messages the form described. You confirm the address before anything is sent, every message has an unsubscribe link, and the list is not shared or sold.
Buying
Lemon Squeezy is the merchant of record for direct purchases. They take the payment, handle VAT and send your licence key, and their privacy policy covers what they hold. Card details never reach us. If you buy through the Mac App Store, Apple is the merchant and the same applies.
Children
Hindsight is not aimed at children and collects nothing that would identify anyone.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, the date at the top changes with it, and anyone on the mailing list hears about it.
Asking us something
Write to [email protected] and a person answers. That includes asking for your email address to be removed from the list, which you can also do yourself from any message.
