Copyright and takedowns

Worth saying first, because it changes what this page can usefully cover: Hindsight hosts nothing you record. Clips are files written to a folder on your own Mac. There is no upload, no account, no cloud tier and no server holding user content, so there is no library of user clips here for anyone to issue a takedown against.

What this policy does cover is the material on this website, and the material we publish about the app.

Imagery on this site

Game cover art shown on the compatibility section belongs to its respective publishers and is used to indicate which games run on macOS. The gameplay stills used to illustrate the interface are generated illustrations, not footage from any of those titles, and are labelled as such in the footer of the home page. Product names, logos and brands are the property of their owners, and their use here is descriptive: it does not imply affiliation with or endorsement by any of them.

If you own rights in something on this site and would like it removed, write to help@hindsightclips.com and it will be taken down. You do not need to send a formal notice for that to happen, and nothing below is a precondition for asking.

Sending a formal notice

If you would rather file a notice under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, send it to the address above, addressed to Eunoia Software LLC, and include:

If we remove something of yours

We will tell you what was removed and why, and you may send a counter notice containing your signature, identification of the material and where it appeared, a statement under penalty of perjury that you believe it was removed by mistake or misidentification, and your name, address and telephone number together with consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court for your district.

What you record is your responsibility

Hindsight records what is already on your screen. Whether you may record, publish or monetise a particular game, stream or conversation is between you, the people on screen and whoever owns the material — most publishers permit gameplay footage, some place conditions on it, and recording other people can be restricted where you live. The terms say the same thing at more length.
